Monthly review - February 2025

Hi there! I'm here to share my monthly review with you all. Feel free to add your own under this thread. If you don't have a template to follow, you can base yourself on what I'm currently doing for my own monthly review.

Monthly Review of February 2025

What went well this month?

  • I got an 80% on the hardest exam of the semester, this made me feel quite proud of myself!
  • I finished a (pretty ugly) early version of a social media mobile app for my mobile development class.
  • I also finished a new section of my research project thesis. It's going slower than I thought that it would, but it's still going forward nonetheless.

What didn't go so well this month?

  • I ended up not focusing on other subjects due to having so many close deadlines this month. I'm hoping that I'll be able to focus more and not feel as pressured next month.
  • I still didn't touch a project that's long overdue. I'll focus on it from now on as my main focus for this month. Hopefully I'll finish it before the 14th.
  • I also spent a lot of time re-doing stuff that I had already done before, so this sucked quite a bit of my time.
  • To be able to attend the deadlines, I ended up using AI. I feel like I didn't learn as much as I could from doing things because I relied way too much on AI. For doing repetitive tasks AI is fine, but I suck at learning from it.

What did you learn?

  • Seems like my phone is truly the culprit for most of my procrastination. I tried putting it in another room and I feel much more focused and less likely to procrastinate without it near me. Even using notifications and distractions on my computer are much easier to deal with than distractions on the phone.

What do you plan to improve next month?

  • I'll also try something like body doubling for the next month, to see if this also helps to improve my focus.
  • I will focus on dumb-fying my phone, so I will feel even less likely to look at it: notifications only from apps that matter, make the screen as simple as possible and keep it away from me whenever I'm working on something.
