I greatly appreciate that this plugin exists. I think in a year that many people will have an expectation of engaging with applications by voice. I have been doing more than 50% of my daily prep, task capture, and journaling by voice for the past year or so. For me, I need transcription to work simply on mobile (which this plugin isn't too complicated to call on, but I wouldn't call it "simple"), continue to record with the phone locked, and allow me to ramble for a bit from time to time. Many other note taking apps (Tana, Mem, Reflect, etc.) are adding transcription functionality, and the bigger task managers (Todoist, Superlist) are doing the same.

A strong native implementation of dictation/transcription for Amplenote that allows users to tap (action button on iOS, shortcut, etc.), put their phone back in their pocket, and talk for 10+ minutes while they walk the dog, wash the dishes, or similar activities would be an outstanding addition to the platform. Reflect notes has the gold standard implementation currently, as an example. All of the components of an implementation like this seem to exist in AN today, and it would be great to see it added to the platform.

I wanted to give an update on the Android situation. I tested using the Chrome browser and Voice Notes plugin works within the browser. However, as soon as Chrome is no longer the active app, it stops recording. So, I still think the issue is related to the Amplenote app not having permission (or not requesting permission) to use the microphone. It would be great to have this option within the Amplenote app. Thanks.

Thanks for this! It looks like we might need to deploy the Android app with an explicit request to allow audio channel permissions. Will talk to the dev team and get back to you!

Thanks. It works beautifully on web and Windows desktop versions of Amplenote. When I try it on my Android (Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4), nothing happens when I press the button. Of note, I don't see a way to give Amplenote microphone permissions in the system settings, app settings.

Hey! Thanks for reporting! Fixed in the next release (manual update required)

Thanks for making this!
When I try to call the plugin, a note is created and these are the contents of the note:
New recording
object data="plugin://d68737cc-9161-11ef-b1a0-ceeb1c0a5b1e" data-aspect-ratio="1"

# History

I don't see it making a recording and I don't see a button. Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: I had to take out the "<" in the beginning and "/>" at the end in the code to make it show up in this comment but they are there in my note.
