Ok, plugin has been updated, it should now work much better, including persisting drawing that are created in the main note window, when you create a drawing with {excalidraw}.
If you use the "Excalidraw" option from the app options, that will open a drawing in the Peek Viewer, which will be retained if you collapse it, but will be deleted if you close the Peek Viewer window.
If you previously installed it and didn't work, ensure you have the latest version. If you do, try deleting the plugin's note and re-installing it.

Pro Tip: If you want to control the size of the excalidraw canvas within a note, you can use {excalidraw} within a table cell. You can then change the size of the table cell to suit your needs, as the excalidraw canvas will always fill the entire size of the cell.
It is working now Bill. Can this be changed to a full screen, instead of an space constrained embed. The complete note body context is filled with the embed?

Is the drawing really pemament?(saved in the note and accessible as long as the excalidraw website is running?)
Also, unfortunately this is just nowhere near as responsive as using Samsung notes (there's too much delay b/t writing and it showing up), so it's not practical for note-taking. Is there a way you can make it more responsive?

Could you add a menu button for inserting as well? Having to type in {ex is really clunky on mobile
